Pastor Jack Cascione will speak on current issues facing the LCMS as First Lutheran Church, 777 north Maclay Ave., San Fernando, California on February 5, 2003, 6:00PM.

Pastor Cascione will address a number of issues, including:

The massive cuts in the number of LCMS Missionaries
The unrestrained growth of District bureaucracies
The current financial crisis in the LCMS
The failure of the Church Growth Movement and PLI
The need to maintain authentic worship
The need for authentic evangelism
The importance of Walther's "Church and Ministry"
The need to maintain and restore congregational administration by Voters'
Assemblies
The need to equal representation of laypeople at District Conventions
The need to maintain the correct doctrine of the Trinity in the LCMS
Why it is OK to pray, but not with pagans
Why we need a new Synodical President
Why we need District Presidents and staff to return to the parish ministry

There will also be time for questions from those in attendance.  Questions may be asked directly from the floor.  It will not be necessary to write questions on file cards and submit them for screening.
